Casey Cox is already a successful Social Security & Disability Attorney, so having a successful law firm website design to represent him was important. Before we redesigned his website, Casey Cox Law was built on GoDaddy Website Builder. The old website did not follow Google’s guidelines and recommendations, so we built a brand new website to make sure he followed search engine protocol.
Here’s how this project rolled out:
Google PageSpeed Score & Website Analytics
To determine a website’s health, we would usually first review it with PageSpeed Insights to get an idea of how users are experiencing the website on both desktop and mobile. However, in this case, the website health wasn’t the biggest issue we were facing. The biggest issue we noticed was the absence of content, SEO, the site wasn’t responsive, the images on the site were exceedingly large – which brought down the load time, no call-to-actions, and the design wasn’t efficient. As you can see from the screenshots below, Casey Cox Law’s old website did not have a passing PageSpeed Score, even though his homepage only had one image.
Now that he redesigned his website, the PageSpeed will now come into play.
Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) is important to look at because it marks the point in the page load timeline when the page’s main content has likely loaded. A fast LCP helps reassure the user that the page is useful. For a good user experience, Google recommends your LCP score is 2.5 seconds or less. Casey Cox Law’s old website took nearly 6 seconds to load.
First Contentful Paint (FCP) is a user-centric metric for measuring perceived page load speed. FCP measures how users perceive the performance of a website, rather than what a speed test tool measures. A good FCP score to provide a good user experience is 1.8 seconds or less. Before the redesign, Casey Cox Law’s website was scoring at 3.8 seconds.
Total Blocking Time (TBT) measures the total amount of time that a page is blocked from responding to user input, such as mouse clicks, screen taps, or keyboard presses. The sum is measured by adding the blocking potion of all long tasks between First Contentful Paint and Time to Interactive. Any task that executes for more than 50 ms is a long task. The amount of time after 50 ms is the blocking portion.
Speed Index measures how quickly content is visually displayed during page load. This means when a customer would go to their equipment rental site, the page wouldn’t load for nearly 8.2 seconds.

Before and After Website Design
(Slide from Left to Right)
The before and after photos of a redesign are always fun to see. Use the slider below to see the before and after images of the homepage, rental page, FAQ page, and contact page. You will notice a huge upgrade in their header. One of the goals for their website was to make it easy to follow their social media websites, as well as leave them a Google Review. So we made that available throughout their website.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search Engine Optimizations (SEO) is not solely reliant on search terms and phrases like “back in the day”. Many believe that if you add search terms here and there, their website will rank well. They don’t take into consideration that if you are using a GoDaddy builder site or any other free website builder and are uploading oversized images, your website won’t rank better than the competition.
We have chose a handful of SEO terms for his industry that we have added to his Monthly Website Care Report – so he can watch how his website is growing and performing over time.
